Its our Birthday!  Today is the day - 3rd August 2010 - our 30th birthday.     

I can hardly believe it but it's true -  30 years ago today I visited Companies House to register Safelink Services ( a partnership). This was a time when all businesses had to be registered not just the LTD ones. Since then we have indeed transformed into Safelink Services Ltd and also transformed ourselves from an installation company into a distributor. Having been involved in  installation work that many years ago has given our team a good grounding in and knowledge of door entry systems and the door entry market. We bring this wealth of knowledge and experience to you our customers. And that's what makes us special!

From the 1st of August 2010 the new 8000 Series kits and modular systems will be supplied in place of the 800 Series.

The new range modules are available in mirror finish stainless steel or a matt aluminum with the frames available in aluminium or black. The 8000 Series audio kits (8K) directly replace the 3K audio kits and are priced the same. The new 8000 Series video kits (VK8K) have been enhanced and will now expand up to 4 entrances, are based on the proven technology of the VK4K video kits and are less expensive than their 800 Series equivalent.

30 years on and still here!

1980-2010

Yes it is true. We are celebrating 30 years of being in business under the name of Safelink Services.

This business name was officially registered on the 3rd of August 1980 back in the days when even an unlimited company had to register at Companies House.

We have kept the same name and the same partners! Mick and Geraldine continue to develop their knowledge of the door entry and access control market enabling them to give invaluable advice on a very wide range of systems. Along with Carol who has also been in the business for at least 20 of these years and Adam who has been involved for nearly 10  and Ricky for nearly 5 we can boast at least 100 years of combined experience between us!

Over the years we have developed close working relationships with the major players in the market and have therefore access to an extensive range of information, technical data and systems. If we cannot find something to suit your requirements no-one can!

As it is a birthday we have been giving out presents to our regular customers.

There have been a few new developments in the market place.

BPT have introduced their new LIFE range of electro-mechanical automatic gate openers. This range being more suited to the domestic market than the existing FADINI range. See our OCTOBER Newsletter for more information.

Comelit has a new KIT brochure. This is a very useful kit showing images of panels and internal units along with all the part numbers of the kit components. A real bonus when trying to order spares of replacement parts. Also great for showing customers. Just call out sales team to order your copy.

Videx have introduced a flush V.R Stainless steel version of their hands free audio and video apartment stations.

Golmar has launched a new 2 wire hands free video kit. The kit is suitable for single dwellings only but can be expanded to have two apartments station and two door station. The hands free video monitor has a 7" TFT flat screen. The door station is  a slim surface mounted panel in a slate grey finish.

More mundane things now....

Price changes.

There is a new price list out from Golmar - prices effective from 1st August on average a 5% increase - do check your prices before ordering.

2009 is proving to be a tough season, with a field of very competitive rider and machines. But for us this just makes the racing more interesting and more fun. If you want to see close racing and tough fought battles from the front of the grid to the back then this is the place to be.

Our new racing partners Race alternative and Rusty Nut Racing have proved to be valuable allies in the never ending battle to keep bikes running it tip top condition, to get damaged parts replaced and wheels and tyres changed. As a result the bikes are taking the punishment dished out and running well. This season has seen a switch to Michelin tyres which have taken some learning but the time and hard work is starting to pay off now as the results are begriming to show on track.

The bikes have generated a lot of interest for us, and if you have the time to visit the track and see them in action you will be guaranteed a very warm welcome in the paddock. The dates for the rest of the season are listed below and entry fees at the gate are very reasonable. Also for those of you who are interested there is still some space left on the fairing for sponsors logos! And here we must mention our thanks for the continued support of Golmar this season.

Also Adam was recently invited to take part in the Alternative Energy Racing day at Santapod. This is where cars and motorcycles running on anything other than normal petrol and diesel can have a go running on the 1/4 mile drag strip to raise awareness of alternative energy sources for vehicles. Most vehicle on the day where running on Bio Fuel, old chip fat or electrical power supplied by batteries.

The invitation came from Ian @ Team Inzane who run a Ducati and a Laverda on E85 Bio Fuel in the minitwin class. On these unfamiliar machines Adam managed to set a respectable 12sec time down the strip with a ZZR1200 setting the fastest time of the day at just under 10sec, which is believed to be a record for the fastest Bio Fueled bike over 1/4 mile.

Safelink are proud to announce that we have over this past year been sponsoring

Adam Palfreman on his Suzuki SV650.

He has been racing with the British Motorcyle Racing Club in both the Clubman Minitwin Championship and the Thunderbikes round.

This season has had it's highs and lows but many trophies have been won. Mid way through the season it became a three bike race for the championship and at one point Adam was only 18 points behind the leader. The final positions were slightly different but Adam finished the season as the runner up in the Minitwin Championships and eighth overall in the Thunderbikes. WELL DONE ADAM !

What's on for next year? - well televised rounds for a start. Adam is planning to run the SV again in the BCL Watches Minitwin's and Thunderbikes classes and possibly a CBR600RR in the Stock Sport 600 class. So look out for the Safelink logo out in front again!.
